Biography
What can I say about myself?
I’m utterly boring, but that’s why I write…I have a vivid
imagination. I was born at Fitzsimmons
Army Hospital, in Denver Colorado. That’s
an interesting story. My mom was a 2nd
Lieutenant (a nurse). My dad was a private and an orderly on
mother’s floor. She disliked him so
much that she had him thrown off her floor.
But my dad was persistent and as they say, the rest is history.
I was raised in Colorado, but when I was fifteen my dad moved us from Denver
to Houston. I often wonder what he was
smoking to do that to us. In Denver
they have seasons… in Houston, they don’t.
And they have hurricanes, humidity, and bugs.
But if I hadn’t moved to Texas then I never would’ve met my husband. He was a graduate student getting his PHD in
Physics. Physics! I took a second year of biology to avoid the
stuff. All I can say is pheromones are
powerful! I should’ve known something
was fishy when I used calculus as an excuse to spend time with him. Of course after the tutoring session, I’d
have to go back to my room and do my calculus.
And there was that little incident when we were at another grad
student’s wedding. I had the misfortune
of sitting next to my husband’s supervising professor. And you guessed it. I put my foot in my mouth and told him I
hated physics. Oh my. You should’ve seen the look on my husband’s
face.
That was
many moons ago. He got his PHD and
I actually did graduate from The University of Texas @ Austin. My degree was in Deaf Education. I taught deaf high school students until I
got pregnant. After my daughter was
born, I stayed at home. When my son
started kindergarten, I started to write.
It was a story about a deaf girl in Colorado in 1876. Write what you know.
I wrote 5 historicals, a futuristic, then contemporaries. The thing that always bothered me about my
books was there is always a dead body.
That used to worry me but I finally stopped worrying about it. So I kill people? It certainly gets rid of a lot of hostile emotions.
I also paint…pots…flowerpots. And
I garden. Take a tour of my
garden.
